Our year in review was more of a task than we could foresee. We thought to ourselves, "All we have to do is sit down and pick at least one photo from every session and wedding and elopement that we did." Nope. 2016 was chalk full of adventures, excitement, beauty, love, and overall amazing people. Even from the saddest day of the year (and one of the saddest of our lives) we turned it into a positive and created opportunities and met people we might not have connected with otherwise. On Easter Sunday our beloved nine year old dog, Fletch, passed away very suddenly without any precursors, and it made us evaluate what we felt was important in our lives-- what we thought we could offer to others. We started Fletch's Legacy where we did pet sessions for the cost of a donation to Asheville's local no-kill shelter Brother Wolf Animal Rescue. Through doing Fletch's Legacy we met and connected with some really incredible people and even worked with past clients once again. It was a much more full, dynamic, and positive year than we gave it credit for. Yes, at times the year felt so cruel, but more times than it it felt good and kind. We are forever thankful for 2016 and hope that 2017 can even pale in comparison. Enjoy this highlight of our year!Read More
What seemed like a dream that would always remain so, became a reality for us. Hosting and doing workshops-- teaching others-- has been a personal dream of Jameykay's. She's been wanting to use the knowledge she has gained over the past 11 years to help others get better at their own craft as well as teaching them how to have and achieve a vision for their work. It hasn't been an easy journey for us to find our own aesthetic with wedding photography but we have acquired some skills along the way that aided in creating our unique style.Read More
Aubrey, the beautiful snow maiden, everyone. The night it started snowing like crazy we contacted Aubrey to catch what may be the very last snow of the season. She borrowed some gorgeous fur, we put her in part of Jameykay's wedding gown (made by LWD Couture), created her a crown of greenery, and went on a stroll through our family property.Read More
A Scottish wedding inspired countryside elopement inspiration shoot that was a few months in the making. Liz White got an idea and struck gold (pun intended!). It will be difficult to to separate myself from this shoot. While Arlie and I had a very simple elopement there were many elements of a wedding that we didn't get to do... such as previewing various sets of china, glasses, tableware, picking out a cake and other sweets, and viewing venues. I even got to say, "If we can't have a candelabra I'm out" and how often do you get to say that?!
There is a beautiful warmth and vintage class that was within the gown, it was incredibly important that every aspect of this shoot emphasize that. Each element was hand-picked and styled with care. Such a fun and literally inspiring shoot with a group of ridiculously talented Asheville local vendors. Now feast your eyes on a toasty winter's eve elopement:Read More
Boudoir sessions are an interesting task to take on. The end result was something that felt natural, images that could be put into frames not just within a secret book kept locked away in a drawer. Images of passion, love, and the creation of beauty. Plus our gorgeous couple are real newlyweds (to each other, duh)! When working with Liz of LWD Couture Bespoke Bridal it seems that we are always pushing ourselves to be better and do something unique, especially once we get the ideas flowing it's hard to stop. To combat a gloomy winter streak a shoot began formulating a few months back and before we knew it there was the sudden possession of black lace, so the shoot that we were already planning had another portion-- a second shoot! Everyone accepted the challenge and we believe we made some breath taking photographs. Every aspect was stunning and delicious (literally! those macaroons tho!) and if these photographs weren't proof I would have sworn this was a dream. Be still our hearts.Read More
2014 turned out to be quite the year-- much better than we could have ever anticipated. Nothing about 2014 was predictable, not much was disappointing, and everything went down in the books. We traveled to Madrid, Spain for a workshop, went to Disneyworld for our honeymoon 5 months after we got married, had a wedding in our backyard, played with fire, played with ridiculously cute baby farm animals, played with musicians and designers, had to take a few business trips to the east and west coasts... and actually shot a majority of our weddings out of town.... this could go on and on. How can words ever really encompass what all 365 days of this year stood for?Read More
