Summertime in Western North Carolina is one of the best times of the year for an engagement session, as well as the most southern time of year-- we've got heat not often paired with humidity, rivers, waterfalls, swimming holes, lightning bugs (or fireflies if you will), music you otherwise might not listen to, and everything else that makes our area great. Olivia and Dillon got the luck of the draw to where they got a summertime engagement session and will be having a beautiful autumn wedding in November! The Blue Ridge Mountain range is the oldest mountain range in the world which means there's billions of years worth of beauty in our region. Enjoy these images from their fun summer session!Read More
It was a perfect summer evening for Danielle and Josh's engagement session at Craggy Gardens. We met up in the parking lot where there were clear blue skies welcoming us up the trail, saying "You won't need those ponchos you said you'd bring just in case". The rhododendrons were still blooming and some even shedding their purple petals along the path which made it feel like a fairytale was unfolding. Once we reached the top the clouds started rolling in, rather quickly, but we still made it out to *the* rock for a few frames. Then it started sprinkling, then it started to rain, THEN it started to pour! Luckily Danielle and Josh listened to my advice, my advice which I didn't take, to bring a poncho in case it rained, so we had a little bit of coverage for the cameras but not us. Needless to say, we took full advantage of the rain on the way down and once we got back to the parking lot. This was one of those engagement sessions that really has a story to tell of the day-- thanks to all that rain! Enjoy!Read More
Hanna and David came down to Asheville for their engagement session and we went to beautiful Looking Glass Falls. It was a warm October day, Hanna got to be barefoot and the water wasn't too cold to bear. The powerful feel of the huge waterfall makes them hold on tightly to each other (and their doggy Ziggy!) and take in the awe of the natural beauty and force. A perfect afternoon with quite the perfect couple! Excited for their wedding this October! Enjoy!Read More
Juliet and Kail's engagement session at apple orchards and gardens was the perfect autumn day to be running around town having fun. They traveled to Asheville for their session and on this day we learned Kail can juggle apples and can probably juggle anything, which is sure to be a skill that will come in very handy some day. Ita, their dog, was such a sweet little beast and she liked to pop in every now and then to be picture perfect with her parents. All around such a beautiful day making memories and new friends!
Our year in review was more of a task than we could foresee. We thought to ourselves, "All we have to do is sit down and pick at least one photo from every session and wedding and elopement that we did." Nope. 2016 was chalk full of adventures, excitement, beauty, love, and overall amazing people. Even from the saddest day of the year (and one of the saddest of our lives) we turned it into a positive and created opportunities and met people we might not have connected with otherwise. On Easter Sunday our beloved nine year old dog, Fletch, passed away very suddenly without any precursors, and it made us evaluate what we felt was important in our lives-- what we thought we could offer to others. We started Fletch's Legacy where we did pet sessions for the cost of a donation to Asheville's local no-kill shelter Brother Wolf Animal Rescue. Through doing Fletch's Legacy we met and connected with some really incredible people and even worked with past clients once again. It was a much more full, dynamic, and positive year than we gave it credit for. Yes, at times the year felt so cruel, but more times than it it felt good and kind. We are forever thankful for 2016 and hope that 2017 can even pale in comparison. Enjoy this highlight of our year!Read More
Kendall and Devin's engagement session at Black Balsam was so fun and easy going yet full of energy and excitement! We got up the mountain a little early so we got to hang out and enjoy each other's company before we started to really shoot. We scheduled the session around when Kendall was returning from deployment in Afghanistan and Devin was in the midst of being a volunteer firefighter... basically these two are regular American heroes and we got the honor of spending a beautiful sunset on top of a mountain with them and their precious pup...Read More
Sarah and Justin were engaged upon a mountain at Black Balsam, on a cold October day while being guided to safety by their dog Maxi. We returned a year later on a much warmer day, catching an incredible sunset that was so beautiful we almost didn't think to take photos. Cheers to Sarah and Justin!Read More
